FAQ section

Commonly Asked Questions

When should I start the course?

You can start anytime during pregnancy! Many women begin in their first trimester, but the course is designed to be valuable whether you're newly pregnant or approaching your due date. Although there are classes specific to each trimester, the movement practices are adaptable and you are able to revisit them no matter where you are in your pregnancy.

Is this only for people planning a natural birth?

While I have a passion for physiological birth, this course is valuable for ANY birth. Understanding your body, building strength, learning positions, and having education helps you make informed choices—whatever path your birth takes.

I've never done Pilates or Yoga before - is this for beginners?

Absolutely! All movements are demonstrated with modifications, and I explain everything clearly. You don't need any prior experience—just a willingness to move your body and connect with your baby.

It can be wise to see a Physiotherapist or Osteopath in your early pregnancy (especially if you have any injuries.) If you have pelvic pain or disfunction in your pregnancy, I will provide modifications however please make sure you have been cleared by your health practitioner before participating in any new exercise, including this course.

If you are unable to do the exercise modules, the birth information and preparation is still highly useful.

How long do I have access to the course?

Lifetime! Access the course as many times as you need—whether you're reviewing before labour, using it for future pregnancies, or refreshing your knowledge postpartum.

How long will the course take for me to complete?

The course is self paced and you can jump to any module at any time. The audio recording of all modules is a total of around 3 and a half hours. The movement videos for each trimester are between 20-30 minutes long for each class.

What equipment do I need?

Very minimal! A yoga mat, a birth ball (optional but recommended), a chair, light weights, a resistance band and a yoga block are optional. and comfortable space to move. Most exercises use just your body weight and can be done at home.

Do I have to do the movement videos?

Definitely not. The course is largely educational content to inform you of your birthing options, the processes of labour and what to expect in your postpartum. The body preparation module does contain Pilates and yoga inspired follow along videos, but it also provides education on pelvic floor awareness, perenial prep, postural support and daily techniques to guide your baby into an optimal position for labour. You can purchase the Birth Education on it's own if you would rather not do the movement aspect of the course.
